I am drawn to this type of ruby precisely for the “imperfections”. The striations, the asymmetry, the beautiful, totally indescribable color that never quite translates to photos. Working with these gems was an absolute pleasure and joy. Halfway through the project I realized I was making little shields, which is very in line with the theme of this collection. Protection, strength, personal power, grit. All these things were on my mind as I created these earrings. I hope they can be potent little talismans for whoever they end up with.
They hang on handmade sterling wires and are approx 5cm long and 2cm wide
